A recent survey of almost one thousand people aged between 15 and 25 has shown that choosing a green job is of huge importance to people when selecting their next career move. An incredible 94% of respondents who were currently hunting for a new job indicated that they had a desire to help protect the future of our natural environment.
Some of the roles and industries that young adults were keen to move into included eco-friendly construction jobs such as Green Building Contractors, Sustainable Architects, Energy Efficient Builders and renewable energy roles including Solar Panel Installers, Wind Turbine Technicians, Energy Efficiency Consultants, and Renewable Energy Engineering.
Around 40% of people in the survey would be interested in taking up roles in government where they could help shape the nation’s green policies and steer the national discourse on green and environmental topics, whilst 70% of respondents consider having a positive impact on the planet to be a key factor when choosing their career path according to the results of the survey.
The research was undertaken by OnePoll and commissioned by British Gas as part of National Apprenticeship Week (6-12 February 2023).
